On Thursday, Feb. 15, the City Council passed the long-awaited Big Box Ordinance tonight by a 6-0 vote. The Mayor was not in attendance.
While it doesn't stop the Lincoln plan for the colossal Wal-Mart dead in its tracks, it is still great news for Austin neighborhoods. Here's why. In the future, residents will be guaranteed a public hearing for all future big box developments and the city will be required to notify a much larger area.
Northcross neighbors and RG4N supporters played a huge role in getting this long overdue ordinance passed by City Council.
Our fight continues and we will prevail.
