About Responsible Growth for Northcross
Who We Are
We are your friends, neighbors and citizens living in the Allandale, Brentwood, Crestview, North Shoal Creek, Rosedale and Wooten neighborhoods. (But you can live anywhere in Austin and unite with us.)
RG4N embraces sustainable redevelopment of the Northcross area that considers long-range environmental and neighborhood impact, embodies transit-oriented and pedestrian-friendly land use, and includes mixed-use development with community focus.
To ensure Northcross Mall is redeveloped in compliance with the City's Vertical Mixed-Use guidelines without a Wal-Mart Supercenter, and in a way that enhances quality of life for the surrounding neighborhoods.
What We Want
We oppose the character of the Northcross Mall redevelopment plan put forth by Lincoln Property Company, which includes a Wal-Mart Supercenter. And we seek community involvement in planning Northcross Mall's redevelopment.
The planned redevelopment is inconsistent with the City's Vision and Values, and not the kind of growth most of our neighbors and local small businesses support.
RG4N is working toward establishing a partnership with Lincoln Property Company to develop a mutually beneficial, growth-oriented solution for Northcross Mall that serves the character and needs of the surrounding neighborhoods while also ensuring a successful business endeavor for Lincoln Property Company.
We continue to call upon the Austin City Council to revoke the illegally-approved site plan for Northcross Mall. We also call for a true 60-day moratorium to help foster meaningful dialogue.
We agree that Northcross Mall needs to be redeveloped. We welcome growth, but not to the detriment of our neighborhoods. Develop it neighborly. Develop it right.
